History Class

Hi girls,

It is my turn to do the history lesson, so the weeks I am teaching we will be learning about Napoleon Bonaparte, and we will have an assignment on him in the lesson I am teaching you after this one. I will give you more information on the exam next lesson. Now we will start to learn about his birth and where he grew up! This fact file will inform you.

Name: Napoléon Bonaparte
Occupation: French Military and Political Leader
Birth Date: 15 August 1769
Death Date: 5 May 1821 (aged 51)
Place of Birth: Ajaccio, Corsica, France
Place of Death: Longwood, Saint Helena

All I can say is, go Napoleon Bonaparte! (I am french ) Your homework task for this lesson is to write more information about Napoleon using the
links below! More info at the bottom of page.
  • http://www.biography.com/people/napoleon-9420291
  • http://www.history.com/topics/napoleon
  • http://www.bbc.co.uk/timelines/zg9kwmn

The assignment is of course about Napoleon, but you can also include information about the Battle of Waterloo. If you use other sites and those ones above, please reference them on your word document.

You have to record your findings on draft writing paper, then publish on a word document. (these notes will be used in an exam about Napoleon) Please include your name, title and class in your document along with pictures. Please send it to academyfordolls@gmail.com by December 20th.

Hairdressing Class

Hi girls,

This week you have to do a hairstyle you like on yourself, and take a picture of it. It can only have 2 pictures, and has to be published on a word document, including the pictures and Hairstyle name. Please include your name on Word Document. All assignments should be sent to Miss Angie at academyfordolls@gmail.com . Please have your assignment published and sent by December 20th, and I look forward to grading your assignments.

Now onto the class:

For this last week, we are going to be learning how to do braids and this week, we are going to be doing the Lace Braided Ponytail.

Since I am no expert, the link to the tutorial is here

Next week, you will be given a test about the two plaits we have studied, so I suggest you take notes on draft writing paper for when you do the exam, so you are ready and prepared.

Gymnastics Class

Hi girls,

This week, you have to video yourself doing a gymnastics routine, including the moves we learnt last week and this week. You can have narration and you have to say the name of the move, and the information of the move and video (send as attachment) are to be published on a word document and sent to me. Please include your name in the Word document. All assignments should be sent to Miss Angie at academyfordolls@gmail.com . Please have your assignment published and sent by December 20th, and I look forward to grading your assignment.

Now onto the class:

For the next 3 weeks, we will be learning a few moves used in gymnastics. The 2 moves we will be working on today are:

Center Split

Learning a center split is just as essential as a front split to your gymnastics. You’ll use a center split in straddle jumps, side leaps, press to handstands, stalders, flairs on pommel horse, and scales.

Bridge

How to do a bridge -- the cornerstone of front and back walkovers, and more. A good bridge will also help you improve your shoulder flexibility, a valuable asset for any gymnast.

At the end of the 3 weeks, you will be given a test about all the things you learnt about gymnastics moves, so I suggest you take notes on draft writing paper for when you do the exam, so you are ready and prepared.

After-school Craft Class

Hi girls,

This week, you have to make a pencil case, to put your pencils you made last week in. It can only be one photo, and is to be published on a word document along with how you made the pencil case. Please include your name in the Word document. All assignments should be sent to Miss Angie at academyfordolls@gmail.com . Please have your assignment published and sent to me by December 20th, and I look forward to grading your assignments.

Now onto the class:

This week, we are finishing learning about the 4 things to remember when running a craft program, if you want to run one sometime. Here are the last 2 things to remember out of the four!

3. Mistakes and Mess Will Happen, its Crafting!

Take mistakes and mess in stride, and expect them. We all make mistakes. That’s part of the process of learning. Encourage a cooperative atmosphere where participants can learn from each other and help one another.

4. Not all Crafters Create the Same!

Be flexible. If an activity starts to be a bore to some members of your group, introduce new techniques that build upon skills that they have already mastered.  Depending on the size and the interests of individual participants, you may want to have materials for alternate projects on hand. For example, if painting with water colors, introduce using salt or saran wrap on them like this mom did at Picklebums.
Next week, you will be given a test about all the things you learned about running a craft program, so I suggest you take notes on draft writing paper for when you do the exam, so you are ready and prepared.

Art Class

Hi girls,

This week you have to make a video of a Draw My Life, if you look on YouTube you will see what I mean. It is to be drawn on a whiteboard whilst being recorded, and you can do voiceover if you would like. Please include your name on the artwork somewhere. All assignments should be sent to Miss Angie at academyfordolls@gmail.com . Please have your assignment published and sent to me by December 20th, and I look forward to grading your assignments.

Now onto the class:

For the next 3 weeks, we will be learning about Leonardo Da Vinci and some of his famous paintings. This week, we will be learning about one of his paintings called 'Lady with an Ermine'.

Fact File:

Name: Lady with and Ermine
Date Painted: 1489 - 1490
Type: Oil on wood panel
Dimensions: 54 cm × 39 cm (21 in × 15 in)

Extra Credit: Can you find any more information on Lady with and Ermine? If so, please record it on a draft piece of writing paper, then publish it on a Word document and send it along with the assignment.

At the end of the 3 weeks, you will be given a test + assignment on all the things you have learned about Leonardo Da Vinci and his artworks, so I suggest you take notes on draft writing paper for when you do the exam, so you are ready and prepared.

  • Voices
  • Facial Expression
  • Movement
  • Gesture (Small Movement)
This week, our focus is on Facial Expression:

Facial expressions occur as a result of small muscle movements in the face and are crucial for the actor. While we must always be aware that the face is the most expressive part of the body, we must also ensure that we act with our ensure we act with our entire body, not just our heads. Facial expressions must come naturally or they will look artificial if overdone and ineffective if underdone.

In two weeks, you will be given a test about all the things we have learnt about Expressive Skills, so I suggest you take notes on draft writing paper for when you do the exam, so you are ready and prepared.

After-School Dancing Lesson

Hi girls,

This week for your assignment, you have to take a photo of you doing one of the 5 basic moves in ballet. It can only be one photo, and is to be published on a Word document along with a description of the move you are doing. Please include your name on the Word document. All assignments should be sent to Miss Angie at academyfordolls@gmail.com . Please have your assignment published and sent to me by December 19th, and I look forward to grading your assignments.

Now, onto the lesson:

Today we are going to be learning the 5 basic ballet positions. You will need to remember them, because at the end of the next 3 weeks you have to create a video of you doing a routine! (It can be any type of video, as long as you are dancing) Lets learn the five ballet positions:

FIRST POSITION

This is the main Ballet position that most of the steps you practise as a beginner will start from. So it's important to get it right. Your feet should be turned out only as far as is comfortable. It is vital that you feel completely balanced in this position and that all of the sole of your foot and toes are in contact with the floor. Check that your feet aren't rolling forwards or turned out so far that you feel you are going to fall over. And certainly don't try to get them in a completely straight line á la Charlie Chaplin! Also, notice how your heels probably won't touch – don't worry about this at all. Just as close as is comfortable is fine.

SECOND POSITION

From first position (above), slide one foot away from the other. The space in between your feet should be about one and a half lengths of your foot. Keep your feet comfortably turned out.

THIRD POSITION

Now slide your foot back to touch the other, but instead of touching heels together as in first position, this time bring one foot further across the other. The heel of your front foot should be touching the area of the arch of your back foot. It's from third position that you'll probably start most of your barre exercises from as a beginner, so take a little time to find and get used to this position.

FOURTH POSITION

From the third position (above) slide your front foot directly out in front of you. Stop when the distance between your feet is equal to about one foot's length.

FIFTH POSITION

Slide your front foot directly back towards you. Bring your front foot slightly further across your back foot than in third position. So when your feet are touching, your front toe should be roughly in front of your back heel. The 'ideal' of this position is to get your front foot so far across your back foot, that you can't see the one at the back. You are so turned out that you are standing front toe to back heel, and back toe to front heel. But to execute this perfectly takes years of training. What is demonstrated here is perfectly acceptable for a beginner. And far more comfortable!

These are the feet, but next week we will be working on the arms! At the end of the next 3 weeks, you will be given a test about all the things you have learnt about ballet and you will be making your own routine (video), so I suggest you take notes on draft writing paper for when you do the exam, so you are ready and prepared.

Writing Lesson

Hi girls,

This week your assignment is to write 5 paragraphs on your favourite fandom/series, and it must tell me why you like it and how you came by it. It can contain as many words as your like, and is to be done on draft writing paper and published on Word. Please include your name and title of work in your Word document. All assignments should be sent to me at academyfordolls@gmail.com . Please have your assignments published and sent by December 19th, and I look forward to reading and grading your assignments!

Now, onto the class:

This week is our last week on TEEL paragraph writing. Last lesson I explained what TEEL paragraph writing is.

Today you will be taking a test that will be worth some of your grades on this subject. NO CHEATING. Please don't look at the previous lesson for the answers, as you have to take notes yourself. Link to test is here

Also girls, you don't have to have a TEEL paragraph structure in your assignment!

Is there any point to school?
(About: Interviewer Karly interviews Mr Abbott about a point to school.)
Karly: Hello, today on PRIME 7 we will be interviewing Mr Abbott from Rockwall Primary! How are you doing today sir?
Mr Abbott: Very good Miss Karly, thankyou!
Karly: So, is there actually any point to school?
Mr Abbott: Of course, why do you say so? (Sternly)
Karly: Well, school is just to make kids have to do homework, have no social life and learn things they MAY not need in later life.
Mr Abbott: So, what’s your point Miss Karly?
Karly: My point IS, there is absolutely no point to school at all! Isn’t that right, Mr Abbott?
Mr Abbott: Ok ok, you found us out, the only reason for school is to keep people like me off the streets. (Sadly)
Karly: I knew it, I knew it! There is absolutely no point to school at all! Thankyou for watching this report, back to the studio!
Wow Grace! I love how you really included the subject of school in this skit, and I really like how the characters react to each of their other pupils reply’s! I love how it is about a point to school, and it really made me laugh reading it! Overall, I give you an A++ on this assignment!

Grades For Writing Assignment

Hi girls!

Today I have your results from the writing assignment, which was last weeks assignment.

Winter

I enjoy winter time because of all of the cuddy, fashionable clothes, the warm food and drinks and the nice times you can enjoy cuddled up with the fire a light and reading a book. Here at my house it is always a really nice temperature because of our wood fire and the insulation. This means that Lucy and I can enjoy reading books, writing in our diaries, doing school work or just relaxing.

For my other reasons, I enjoy winter because of all the beautiful fashions. I enjoy shopping with Lucy, on Etsy and American Girl. We love buying coats, scarves, gloves, vests and much, much more! I love making outfits and trying on new items. Winter is the perfect time for relaxing with a hot chocolate in front of a fire.

In conclusion, winter is the perfect time for relaxing, baking and shopping!

By Rebecca-Lou Long

Wow Rebecca! This is an amazing piece of work, and really describes why you like Winter. I love how you included bits about what you and Lucy love to do together, and the fashions that you enjoy buying! Although it was only 2 paragraphs and a conclusion sentence, I am giving you an A+ on this assignment!
Winter Wonderland

Paragraph I: Hot Chocolate
As the burning liquid slithers down my throat, it burns a chocolatey taste in me. The sensation of hot liquid rumbling around your tummy feels excellent, but mysterious. I have wondered aloud, shall I ever see the most perfect Hot Chocolate again or a 1st and last see? I hope that one day I shall see one again!

Paragraph II: Snowflakes in America
In my old town, the snowflakes would land delicately on your nose and melt daintily. They would make you feel secure and safe, all huddled in one big lump on your head like a group of elephants! I hope that it will one day snow here in Australia so that I can be re-united again!

Paragraph III: Gingerbread Biscuits
The smell of tender and raw ginger pronged in my nose as I walk closer to the kitchen door. My heart opens like a door left ajar as I walk inside to see a tray filled with biscuits scattered here and there!

By Kit Kittredge

Wow Kit! This is really a masterpiece. I love how you described the feeling of the hot chocolate going down your throat and in your tummy, how the snowflakes feel on your nose and how the gingerbread smells when you see the gingerbread biscuits! I love how you had each paragraph one certain topic, so I am giving you an A++ on this assignment!

By: Grace Eve Smith    Class: Y6 Academy For Dolls

Wintertime Love
I love wintertime because I can snuggle up in warm jumpers and have hot chocolate every day. Winter is perfect because you can stay in your pajamas and relax, hang out with friends and even take wonderful wintertime photos.
Wintertime is also perfect because you can sit in a corner of your room and read books as you like. My favourite wintertime books are Narnia series, GOTY Grace books and BeForever books.
Lastly, I love winter because it’s perfect for going skiing in the snow, or even just building a snowman or having a snowball fight. It is also great because really awesome clothes come out that make you warm and snuggly.

Wow Grace! I love how you described how you feel during winter, and how you really like to photograph wintertime! I love how you also added a list of your favourite books, and even added things about outside! I love how you really summed up winter, so I am giving you an A+ on this assignment!

Student of the week is… Miss Kit, For outstanding performance in this weeks assignment!
